Brandy Crusta cocktail

A dazzling pre-Prohibition classic, this brandy-based sour is distinguished by its dramatic sugar-crusted rim and elegant lemon peel spiral, offering a vibrant balance of sweet, sour, and spirit.

Method

  1. Moisten the rim of a chilled coupe glass with a lemon wedge, then roll it in sugar to create a thick crust.
  2. Carefully place a long lemon peel spiral inside the glass, allowing it to hang over the rim.
  3. Combine Cognac, orange liqueur, maraschino liqueur, lemon juice, and Angostura bitters in a shaker with ice.
  4. Shake until well-chilled.
  5. Double strain into the prepared glass, being careful not to disturb the sugar rim.
